75 Covenant Faculty in Top 10 List of Nigerian Authors in Various Subjects
Seventy-five (75) members of faculty at Covenant University have been listed among the top 10 Nigerian authors in various subject areas, according to the latest computations by Elsevier SciVal, the strategic data analysis tool employed by ranking bodies worldwide.
In other words, each of the 76 subject areas highlighted had at least a Covenant University faculty in its top 10 list of authors.
Professor Sanjay Misra of the Electrical and Information Engineering Department emerged the faculty with most mention, as he was listed among the top 10 authors in 15 different subject areas, which included Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Communication, Computational Theory and Mathematics, Computer Networks and Communications, Computer Science (Miscellaneous), and Computer Science Applications among others.
Next was Dr. Sunday Fayomi of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who featured prominently in the top 10 lists of authors in 12 subject areas, among which were Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science Applications, Control and Systems Engineering, Electrochemistry, Engineering, General Physics and Astronomy, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials Chemistry.
Professor Cleophas Loto, also of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was among the top 10 Nigerian authors in 9 subject areas. His published works centered on subject areas ranging from Ceramics and Composites, Control and Systems Engineering, and Electrochemistry, to Engineering General Chemistry, General Engineering, General Material Science and Material Chemistry.
While Dr. Moses Emetere of the Physics Department was among the top 10 authors in 8 subject areas, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero, who is a faculty in the Electrical and Information Engineering Department, emerged in the top 10 lists of 7 subject areas. Some of the subject areas in which the professor of Communication Engineering was featured were Computer Science (Miscellaneous), Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Education, General Computer Science, and Hardware and Architecture.
Professor Charles Ayo, the 3rd substantive Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University and a faculty in the Department of Computer Sciences, was among the top 10 authors in 6 subject areas, same as Dr. Eziyi Ibem of the Department of Architecture, and Dr. Roland Loto of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Only one faculty made the top 10 lists of 5 subject areas; 5 faculty were in the top 10 lists of 4 subject areas; 16 faculty in the top 10 lists of 3 subject areas; another 16 in the top 10 lists of 2 subject areas; and 29 faculty were in the top 10 list of 1 subject area.
Covenant’s latest accomplishments came on the heels of recent feats as the University took the lead in a number of competencies in the Nigerian education landscape, by emerging number one in the field of Engineering in Nigeria; number one in the field of Computer Science in Nigeria; and number one in the field of Decision Sciences in Nigeria.
