CISCO Presents ICT Audit Report to Covenant University Management

CISCO Systems Incorporated, Nigeria, presented its audit report on ICT Network and Internet Infrastructure at Covenant University to the management of the institution on Monday, January 18, 2016.

Presenting the audit report carried out in conjunction with Softcom Limited, the Systems Engineer, CISCO, Mr. Timi Amao noted that the audit was carried out on wireless and network infrastructures in the University.

On wireless infrastructure, the CISCO representative recommended that the students’ tablets should be upgraded as part of solutions to solving the wireless challenges. He also recommended smaller cells to guarantee good experience on network for each student.

On network infrastructure, Mr. Amao confirmed that it was ‘okay’ but expressed concern over the security aspect. He noted that there are lots of improvements needed in that area where the University would be able to control the websites the students can access.

“Network infrastructure allows the students access to lot of information that can assist them in their studies, so we feel that investing in a robust infrastructure would go a long way for the University,” he explained. He added that CISCO can assist the University attain its vision to become one of the top 10 universities in the world based on their experience working with some of the Ivy League universities.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Charles Ayo, appreciated the organisations for the report and noted that the University was in dire need of sustainable wireless solution. “Until we have these services deployed to students and the University community, we would not be satisfied,” he added.

Also at the meeting were the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun; Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo; Director, Vision 10:2022, Professor Christian Bolu; Assistant Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Steven Oluwatobi; Head of Department, Computer and Information Science, Dr. Ariyo Adebiyi; and a member of ICT Committee, Dr. Funminiyi Olajide.
