CU Freshmen Advised to Obey Rules
The newly admitted students of Covenant University have been advised to obey the rules and guidelines of the institution during their stay on campus, so as to come out unscathed in their educational journey through the University.
This call was made by the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, at the Chapel Service of the institution on Thursday, August 25, 2016. “Carefully choose your company so as not to destroy your life. Beware of strangers in form of roommates. Report any unbecoming behaviour so you do not get destroyed with them. Your business here is to manifest divine intelligence, and that comes cheaply when you stay close to God and seek His wisdom. The closer you are to God, the sharper your intellect becomes,” he advised.
The Chancellor also made it clear that there is no surer way to avoid crisis and stay safe in the race of life than being spiritual. “The more spiritual you are,” he said, “the more godly you live and the more solid your character.”
He stressed, “Obey the rules of the institution, no matter the status of your parents. If you break the rules and commit a capital offence, you are gone. My prayer is that you do not break the hearts of your parents.” Dr. Oyedepo encouraged the students to build their spiritual lives which he said, is the greatest certificate one can ever have in the race of life. “It shields you from sickness and diseases and protects and fortifies you against the challenges of life.”
He admonished them to feed on the word of God and be strengthened for the journey of life (James 2:26; 1 Timothy 5:6). “I pray that none of you will miss the divine plan that God has for you,” he stated.
