CU Management Celebrates Pastor Olamide Olusegun’s Birthday
Covenant University Management organised a birthday surprise today, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, for the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, to celebrate God’s faithfulness in his life and the gift of another year.
The event, which took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Canaan Land, Ota, witnessed an outpouring of encomiums on the Registrar, who has been in the position now for almost three months.
Speaking during the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, wished him a happy birthday and all the blessings of life. He stated that Pastor Olusegun was a man of few words and described him as one who always maintains a calm demeanour no matter what’s happening around him. “You are a classic example of the saying that God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called. We pray that God would give you the grace to make the most of your new office,” the Vice-Chancellor enthused.
In her remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye, wished the Registrar a great new year ahead and reiterated the statement earlier made by the Vice-Chancellor concerning the celebrant’s sterling quality of never being ruffled no matter the situation around him. “We wish you good health, joy and prosperity,” she concluded.
The Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo also congratulated the celebrant, referring to him as an honest, faithful, hardworking and humble Man of God whose life has been an inspiration to him.
While responding to the congratulatory remarks, Pastor Olusegun expressed his appreciation for all the wonderful words spoken about him by the University Management and declared that he remains grateful to God for the great honour he has today, of celebrating his birthday in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room. He noted that he would not have believed it if it had been told him by this time last year that this would happen.
He gave thanks to God for having preserved his life to see another year and for God’s deliverance from all the near death experiences he had in the past. He stated, “Now I know that God preserved me for a purpose. My being in Covenant University today may have surprised me, but it is obvious that God brought me here; and I thank Him for such great honour. I am also very grateful to the Chancellor, who is also my father in the Lord, Dr. David Oyedepo and our Mama, Pastor Mrs. Faith Oyedepo, for their continuous grooming role in my life.” He was also presented with gifts by the University Management.
Also present at the event were the Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha; Dean, College of Engineering, Professor John Ndueso; the Director, Academic Planning Unit, Dr. Olawande Daramola; the Deputy Director, Physical Planning and Development, Arc. Segun Olanipekun, and members of the Directorate of Media and Corporate Affairs.
