The Management, Staff and Students of Covenant University hereby wish our Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS), Professor Shalom Chinedu Happy Birthday. Have a most refreshing and blissful celebration as you continue to contribute to the growth and development of the University in Jesus’ name. Congratulations sir!

Professor Chinedu Shalom, an erudite professor of the university, who is also the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, was showered with gifts and appreciation by the Covenant University Management on Friday, September 18, 2015, on the occasion of his 49th birthday.

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo thanked God on behalf of the celebrant and stated that it has been by the grace of God that he has made it thus far. He said the celebrant has been successful in the various portfolios he managed in the University before his current appointment as the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies; and has been an asset to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor further said, “He has a very calm disposition when dealing with issues and always makes his points calmly, no matter the situation. That is a very great quality.” He encouraged the celebrant to use this period to reflect on the present and to seek the face of God concerning the future.

While presenting a birthday present to Professor Chinedu on behalf of the University Management, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye stated, “We want to appreciate you and let you know how much you are loved. May God keep you and enlarge your coast as you mark another year of God’s grace and mercy.”

In his remarks, the Dean, School of Leadership and Development Studies, Professor Charles Ogbulogo, congratulated the celebrant, stating that he has been of great value to the Covenant University system, and wished him a great year ahead.

In his remarks, the Director, Centre for Learning Resources described Professor Chinedu as a man with a strikingly calm mien, a genuine laughter and a balanced personality. He congratulated the celebrant and added, “You are a very colourful addition to the CU community.”

In his response, Professor Chinedu stated, “I want to appreciate God for adding another year to my life. This birthday is particularly significant in two ways. Firstly, today, I officially overcame a fear in my family that I may not live beyond 48 years, because my father died at 48. Today, I am 49 and it is a proof that God has destroyed untimely death in my family. Secondly, I share the same birthday with Faith Tabernacle.”

“I appreciate this great honour done me today,” He enthused.

Also present at the occasion were the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun; Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha; Dean, College of Science and Technology, Professor Nicholas Omoregbe; Dean, College of Engineering, Professor John Ndueso; Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Zacchaeus Omogbadegun; Director, Physical Planning and Development, Pastor (Arc.)
