CU, Redeemer’s University Sign Pact
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, between Covenant University (CU), Ota, Ogun State and Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State.
The MoU is to cover areas such as faculty and students exchange opportunities, joint sponsorship of conferences and workshops as well as joint research and scholarly publications.
While making his remarks at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Charles Ayo, expressed his excitement over the series of deliberations between the two universities that culminated in the establishment of a formal collaborative relationship. He said that the new relationship status with the Redeemer’s University would enhance Covenant University’s efforts towards the achievement of its vision to becomeone of the top 10 universities in the world by the year 2022.
Professor Ayo further said, “We have two universities coming together today and it is one of the best things to happen in the Nigerian University system. We expect to see a development of ideas from this relationship in the form of research and collaborations. There is need to put on our thinking caps in order to create solutions to the myriad of issues facing Nigeria. We need to cultivate development focused education in order to address these issues, advance the cause of Nigerian Universities and harness the essence of our education.”
In his own remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Professor Debo Adeyewa stated, “The two universities have been brain storming on the areas to partner in for a while, and I thank God today that it is all coming to pass. I thank God for the giant strides that Covenant University has been making since inception. It is widely known that you are very consistent with your goals, policies and culture. The two universities will not compete, but rather, complement each other.”
In his welcome remarks, the Registrar of Covenant University, Pastor Olamide Olusegun stated that the signing of the MoU between the institutions would engender an enduring relationship between them.
Also present at the occasion were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Taiwo Abioye; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Professor K. S. Adekeye; the Registrar, Redeemer’s University, Mrs B. A. Oloketuyi; Immediate Past Registrar, Covenant University, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo; the Director, Financial Services, Covenant University, Pastor Adebayo Oladehinbo; the Acting Bursar, Redeemer’s University, Mr. Emmanuel Momodu; the Director, Academic Planning Unit, Covenant University, Dr. Olawande Daramola; the University Librarian, Redeemer’s University, Dr. E. L. Adebayo and other officers of both institutions.
