Covenant, Oral Roberts University Endorse Collaboration
Covenant University and Oral Roberts University (ORU), the United States, have reached an agreement to collaborate on research and students exchange among others.
Both universities formalized the agreement with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, September 22, 2017, at a meeting featuring the Executive Director, Office of Global Service, ORU, Dr. Kevin Schneider, and the Management of Covenant University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Schneider, who said that the President of ORU, Dr. William Wilson was very excited about the relationship, added that it was an honour for him to be at Covenant to witness the beautiful things he has heard about.
According to Dr. Schneider, his office supervises three programmes – Study Abroad, Healing Teams and the International Student Centre – where ORU and Covenant could collaborate.
In her comment, the Director, International Office and Linkages, Covenant University, Dr. Ada Peter, said that the MoU signing was the beginning of good things between Covenant and ORU. She expressed enthusiasm that the exchange of students between the two universities and collaboration on research would be mutually beneficial.
Speaking shortly after the signing of the MoU supervised by Barrister Ayodele Osayande of the Legal Unit, the Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, said that Covenant and the ORU have a history that started before the establishment of Covenant. While stating that it’s a thing of joy for Covenant to associate with the Oral Roberts University, Professor Atayero blessed God that finally, the relationship was concretised.
Members of some Research Clusters at Covenant University also met with the ORU representative, Dr. Schneider, to identify the areas of research where both universities could collaborate.
Also representing Covenant University at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shalom Chinedu; Registrar, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo; Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr. David Omole; and a faculty from the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Nsikak Benson.
