Two PhD students of Covenant University, Mary Ogundanna and Peace Okougbo have emerged winners of the top prize and 2nd runner-up honour respectively, at the 3rd Academic Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Ogundanna’s paper titled, ‘Application of Fair Value Accounting and the Quality of Accounting Information of Listed Firms in Nigeria’, was ranked first among the 8 papers presented at the colloquium and she was awarded a cash prize for her effort.

Also, Okougbo, with her paper titled, ‘Accounting Ethics Education and the Behaviour of Accounting Undergraduates in South Western Nigeria’, was ranked third and got a cash prize.

Ogundanna and Okougbo’s feats are remarkable, considering that they accounted for two of the only three prizes available.

The Academic Conference Committee had on behalf of the Technical, Research and Public Policy Committee (TRPPC) of ICAN congratulated both Covenant University students on their research proposals presented at the PhD Colloquium.

The performance of Ogundanna and Okougbo is yet another validation of the high quality teaching on offer at Covenant University at both the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels.
