High-flying Covenant University maintained its status as a research-inclined university by emerging No. 1 in the world among the top 100 institutions, by scholarly output, in the field of Governance; Electronic Government; Democratic Governance.

Three faculty members of Covenant also occupied the 1st to 3rd positions in the list of top 500 authors worldwide on this topic.

According to the latest computations by Elsevier SciVal, the quick and easy access to the research performance of 8500 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide, Covenant emerged the world leader with 31 scholarly outputs, 358 views count, and 21 citation count.

The only other Nigerian institution in the top 10 list led by Covenant was Obafemi Awolowo University, which occupied the 9th spot. Also featuring in the top 10 of the computations, spanning the period between 2014 and 2017, were JIS College of Engineering (2nd), Florida Atlantic University (3rd), Universidade Regional de Blumein (4th), and California State University San Bernardino (5th).

The leading author in the field of Governance; Electronic Government; Democratic Governance at Covenant University, Professor Charles Ayo of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, was No. 1 among the top 500 authors on this topic with 3 scholarly outputs.

Next to Professor Ayo, whose research interests include Data Communications and Networking, was Professor Daniel Gberevbie of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, followed by Professor Francis Iyoha of the Department of Accountancy.
