Covenant University: A Tourist Attraction


In recent times, Covenant University has played host to so many individuals, corporate organizations, groups, governmental and non-governmental organizations, professional bodies and schools at her well layed out campus.

The University’s state-of-the-art infrastructural and teaching facilities, coupled with green vegetation and serene environment for learning have continued to attract visitors to the number one University in Nigeria and West Africa.

Almost on daily basis, visitors come from different parts of the country to have first-hand experience of what a conducive environment feels like. They always leave with good validation.

For the visitors, it’s always a time of adventure and amusement. According to the President of Institute of Readers, Ota Chapter, Mr. Solomon Oluseyi, Covenant University is a conducive environment for learning and there is orderliness.

He stated further that what amazed him most about Covenant University Library was the Escapist Reading section where students can relax and at the same time learn new things. Also, the Spiritual Leadership Development section where they can be spiritually developed makes the university library unique from every other library.

Mr. Oluseyi who visited the University alongside other members of the Institute on Friday, June 12, 2015, disclosed that the vision of his institute is to deliver people from ignorance by inculcating good reading culture. His mission statement is to raise a new generation of God fearing resourceful readers as well as thinkers who will influence their nation and society, and Covenant University is a good citadel of learning to partner with in order to achieve this vision.

He believes in the Total Man Concept of the University, stating that self-discovery is crucial in fulfilling purpose and destiny. He added that self-discovery can be achieved through inculcating reading culture.

While admiring the University, the District Commissioner, Nigeria Girl Guides Association, Ota, Ogun State, Mrs. Iyabo Odeyinde said “Covenant University is a great University and I love it. It’s one of the best Universities so far; no other university can be compared with it in Nigeria. Learning will take place effectively here because the environment is conducive”.

While speaking about her experience during the tour on Friday, June 12, 2015, a member of the Nigeria Girl Guides Association, Marian Famobio said “I feel happy. I love the environment. I have learnt to embrace diligence like the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, in order to be financially blessed to do something more extraordinarily”.

Also speaking, Head of Administration, Graceville College, Mrs. Faustina Obi who visited the University alongside her students on Monday 15, June 2015, said their students are prospective university students, and the management of the school wants to ensure that the students select a good university. That was the reason they embarked on the excursion to Covenant University.

She affirmed that Covenant University is a Christian institution that is interested in character building. “I am impressed with all that I have seen” she said.

A student of Graceville College, Roland Sekegor Vittorio, said that the University is a standard school with very good facilities, adding that he would like to study there. Kechi Obiageli also said the University has succeeded in grooming students to become great leaders.
