Covenant University And Diamond Bank Signs MOU, Launch Debit Card
Covenant University and Diamond Bank on Monday, February 11, 2014, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), over the launch of Covenant University’s multi-purpose and multi-featured debit card platform.
The MOU which was signed in the Vice-Chancellor’s conference room; consolidated the formal launch of the e-payment cum student identification card system, which took place in September last year.
The Covenant University and Diamond Bank International Debit Card System, would serve as students’ Identity card, and also be used for financial transactions. Being very flexible, the card would also serve as a platform for biometric attendance, registration, and as voter’s card among the students body.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Charles Korede Ayo, urged the management of Diamond bank to hasten the production process to enable the goals for the project not to be frustrated.
“For instance, we have a policy that anybody short of a certain percentage of class attendance, should not write exams, and if we do not have a platform that will enable us access this, that creates a problem,” the Vice-Chancellor opined.
While responding to the demands of the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Director, Lagos Regional Office of Diamond Bank, Mr. Uzoma Dozie, assured the Vice Chancellor of prompt action. He further said, “The features of the card are robust and we can add more functionality as we progress.”
The Vice-Chancellor in his closing remarks encouraged Diamond Bank to continue to corporate with Covenant University in driving other developmental activities.
Present at the launch were members of the University’s Management team: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor A.A.A. Atayero; Registrar, Mr. Muyiwa Oludayo; Director Financial Services, Pastor Deji Okubanjo; Director, System and Information Services, Pastor Abolade Afolabi.
Others were, representatives of the legal team, and the Corporate and Public Affairs Department.
