Covenant University, CISCO to Partner on Academy

Covenant University and CISCO Systems Nigeria Limited are working out plans to partner on the establishment of CISCO Academy in the University campus. This was the crux of discussion when the CISCO team visited the University on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

CISCO team leader and Country General Manager, Mr Dare Ogunlade, noted that Covenant University is already doing well in the training of its students which is evident in the large number of graduates who are already CISCO Certified Internetwork Experts (CCIE).

Mr Ogunlade added that his organisation wants to work closer with the University by establishing the Academy on campus and train the trainers. Among other benefits are certification and the possibility of being employed before graduation.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo remarked that the University was ready to partner with the organisation, noting that their coming to the University was timely. Professor Ayo said that by the certification, the University would be producing future ready students who would not need to be retrained by their employers.

Also at the meeting were Dean, College of Engineering, Professor Samuel John, Dean, College of Science and Technology, Professor Nicholas Omoregbe, Director, Centre for Systems and Information Services, Mr. Yinka Adeboye, Managing Partners, Softcom Limited, Mr. Yomi Adedeji and Mr. Omoseindemi Olobayo.
