Covenant University, Huawei Set for Partnership
A meeting which held between Covenant University and Huawei on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, has brought about a consensus by the two institutions to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Speaking during the meeting, the Executive Director, Enterprise, Huawei, Nigeria, Mr. Welsion Yangufeng, stated that Huawei was ready to collaborate with Covenant University in the area of Network Infrastructure, IT Infrastructure, Data Centre and Simplified Security Management.
He explained that Covenant University is the first collaboration Huawei would have with any educational institution in West Africa. He expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of having a working relationship with the foremost University in Nigeria, which to him, seems to be taking great strides already in the area of ICT.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero, echoed the same sentiment with Mr. Yangufeng, stating that the Covenant University Management is looking forward to the consummation of the partnership in other to start the ball rolling in the practical outworking of the agreement.
Professor Atayero, who recently led the University ICT team on an inspection tour of some Huawei’s industrial facilities in China, expressed satisfaction and confidence of the University Management that the partnership would play a great role in moving the University closer to its goal of becoming a world class institution by the year, 2022.
Also at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shalom Chinedu; the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun; the Director, Financial Services, Pastor BayoOladehinbo; the Director, CSIS, Engr. YinkaAdeboye; the Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Dr. Victor Mathews; the Deputy Director, Media & Corporate Affairs (M&CA), Mr. Emmanuel Igban and the Senior Information Officer (M&CA), Ms Chichi Ononiwu.
