Covenant University Shines at NURESDEF, RMRDC Fairs
Covenant University researchers and their products were adjudged best among others at the recently organised 6th Nigerian Universities Research and Development Fair (NURESDEF) and 12th Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Techno-Expo 2016 respectively.
The Director, Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID), Professor Samuel Wara, who led the University’s delegates to the fairs, presented the certificates from the events to the management of the University.
At a brief event held in the Vice-Chancellor’s conference room, Professor Wara stated that the University won 2 Gold and 1 Silver at the NURESDEF, organised by the National Universities Commission (NUC) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The products presented at the Fair were the five varieties of Hebron Poultry Feeds and Vegetable Oil, as well as Vaccine Administration Bag, also known as Energy Retention Bag, for Field and Extension Workers, under the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine category.
The same products, according to the Director for Research, were presented at the RMRDC Techno-Expo 2016. The University was awarded a certificate of Excellent R&D Products. Covenant University was also presented two certificates of participation.
While responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, noted that even though the University had no Agriculture or Medical programmes, it was able to compete favourably and won prizes under the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine category. He appreciated the Director and his team for excellent performance.
