Covenant University Signs MoU with Meristem Securities
In its drive to continuously encourage academic excellence and exposure to the Industry knowledge amongst students, Covenant University and Meristem Securities Ltd Lagos, signed a Memorandum of Understanding which focuses on annual endowments, job opportunities for Covenant University students and graduates as well as partnership with the University in other areas of mutual interests.
The MoU was signed at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
The Head of Delegation from Meristem Securities Ltd, Mrs Jumoke Awolumate noted that their organization is a learning organization that thrives on knowledge, that is why they pride themselves in partnering with an Institution like Covenant University that is knowledge embedded.
“The signing of this MoU is very phenomenal and I believe it is the beginning of a more lasting, mutually beneficial relationship between our organization and Covenant University”, she said.
Mrs Awolumate who represented the Managing Director, Mr. Oluwole Abegunde, stated that the MoU would consist of an annual endowment in the University for the best gradating student in the Department of Economics, as well as offer of an annual vacation job to the best 200 level student in the Department of Economics.
She expressed excitement at the signing of the MoU and assured that Meristem Securities Ltd would contribute its quota to the drive for continuous excellence amongst students in the Department of Economics in Covenant University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan noted that Covenant University had gotten to a point where she is expanding her frontiers and securing the future as she is currently reaching out and partnering with the external context, in the area of practical exposure and hands-on experience for students.
She reiterated that the University is out to raise a new generation of leaders who upon graduation, will make a difference in their world. She added that Covenant University will partner with them in the area of “Capacity Building”, saying that they can be a part of the Life Long Learning Programme that the University recently embarked upon.
Professor Obayan admonished them to give feedback from time to time with respect to student’s performance out there in their Organization and other Companies that they have a relationship with.
The Vice-Chancellor showed appreciation and excitement at the signing of the MoU. “This is a fruitful platform that has just been rolled in, this is very inspiring. We are not just signing the dotted lines, what matters most is what emerges after the signing”, she said.
