As part of the events to commemorate the Martin Luther King Day 2012, the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the US Consulate in Lagos recently organized an inter-school quiz competition

Covenant University was among the three higher Institutions that participated in the competition which took place on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Public Affairs Section Office in Lagos.

In her welcome address, the Head, Public Affairs Section, Mrs. Tina Onufer, said the competition would provide opportunities for youths to learn about Martin Luther King Junior’s ideals and philosophies so as to inspire them.

Also speaking at the event, a Representative of Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mrs. Patricia Onuoha affirmed that the competition brought to fore the non-violence ideology of Martin Luther King Junior. “It can be a useful tool in actualizing the much desired peace we need in Nigeria." She added that violence should not be a way forward to achieving peace in the country.

At the end of the keenly-contested quiz, Covenant University students emerged third. The team members were given a gift prize of flash drives and some books each.
