Covenant University’s unique custom-built Entrepreneurial Development Studies programme (EDS) has continued to receive external validations as the University emerged the Best Entrepreneurship Promoter of the Year 2009

among Private Universities in the country.

The award was presented to the University at the Entrepreneurship Conference, Exhibition and Awards 2009 organized by the Entrepreneurship Promotions Academy on Tuesday October 13, 2009 at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

While receiving the award on behalf of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Aize Obayan represented at the occasion by the Distinguished Professor Ekundayo Adeyemi, eulogized the Chancellor of the University, Dr David Oyedepo for creating a unique platform for raising a new generation of leaders for the continent of Africa as validated by the award.

“What better way to preach this than through the University’s Entrepreneurial Development Studies platform which is aimed at making the teeming youths of the country self sufficient”, he added.

Apart from being the first institution of higher learning in the country to introduce entrepreneurship development studies in all its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the University has also received numerous awards for its pacesetting role. It has played host to many institutional guests who visit the EDS Centre to learn from its rich experience.

The colourful event attracted numerous of dignitaries from all walks of life, including Director General, Small and Medium Enterprising Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Alhaji Muhammed Nasada Umar, Professor Pat Utomi of the Lagos Business School, among others.
