New Registrar, Dr Olumuyiwa Oludayo, taking his Oath of Allegiance

Covenant University’s apex decision-making body, the Board of Regents, has appointed Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo as the new substantive Registrar of the University.

The Secretary to the Board, Pastor Chioma Okwuanyi, representing the Chancellor and Chairman Board of Regents, Covenant University, Dr. David O. Oyedepo, made the announcement on Monday, July 17, 2017, at a meeting with the Management of the University.

Pastor Okwuanyi said that having recognized the pivotal roles played by Principal Officers, particularly at this period of the 2016/2017 Academic Session, the Board thought it necessary to appoint a new substantive Registrar for the University. The Board, he said, arrived at the choice of Dr. Oludayo after a series of interviews and consideration of experience of shortlisted candidates.

Following his formal announcement as Registrar, Dr. Oludayo was promptly inaugurated as he took an Oath of Allegiance administered by Pastor Okwuanyi. “It’s not by human calculation that you will succeed, but by Biblical tenets. Follow strictly the guidelines in the Oath of Allegiance and you will succeed,” the Board secretary admonished Dr. Oludayo.

Earlier on, the Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, told the gathering that the Board of Regents had good news for the University to wrap up the academic session, while noting that the only constant thing at the University is ‘change’.

Dr. Oludayo, a product of Covenant University who had previously served as Registrar of the University between 2013 and 2015, was until his re-appointment the Director, African Leadership Development Centre at the University.

The new Registrar, who is a lecturer in the Department of Business Management, had held a number of other offices in the University among which were Dean, Student Affairs; Academic Adviser, Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management; and Assistant Chaplain. He is also a member of several professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

The Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management graduate is happily married with children.
