Experts educate Students on Stockbroking Profession
A team of experts from the Chartered Institute of StockBrokers (CIS), recently, enlightened Faculty, Staff and Students of College of Business and Social Sciences on the benefits of being a professional stockbroker for those wishing to start or progress their career within the securities and investment industry.
The Registrar and Chief Executive officer of the institute, Mr Adedeji Adadi, while giving an overview of the institute’s vision, mission and core values, highlighted the benefits that would be derived by being a professional member of the institute.
According to him, “Our vision is to develop professional leaders with a mission to promote and protect the interests of the securities and investment profession by upholding the highest standards of service and integrity.”
He said their programmes have indeed opened the doors of opportunity to millions of aspiring and promising Nigerians looking for global opportunities and right career progression in securities and investments profession.
In addition, Mr. Adedeji acquainted the students with the minimum entry requirements, how to obtain the institute’s qualification and its structure. The minimum entry requirements are 5 O’ Level Credit passes including English and Mathematics in SSCE, GCE, NECO at a minimum of two sitting and GCE “A” levels, OND, NCE, in any discipline and other equivalent qualifications etc
In his remarks, Head of Department of Banking and Finance, Dr. Ailemen Ikpefan, urged the students to take advantage of the platform, so they could develop themselves for easy penetration into the labour market after their first degree.
The event ended in an interactive session between both parties, where Faculty, Staff and Students asked questions pertaining to the recent capital market crash and how one can become a stockbroker.
