First City Monument Bank Visits CU
A team from First City Monument Bank (FCMB), led by its Executive Director, Mr. Olufemi Bakare, paid a visit to the Management of Covenant University, on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in Canaan Land, Ota.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, said, “We have taken time to develop a road map that would allow the University achieve that which include Innovation, Impact and Internationalization. That is what has informed a programme that we have earmarked - Covenant University / Industry Partnership Luncheon. It is our plan to invite captains of industries in Real Estate, Oil and Gas, Banking, etc. This would help us showcase our products and strengths, which would as well, attract the partnerships we need to improve on the quality of education we offer. These are the areas you can come in, so we hereby extend our invitation to you for partnership in these areas.”
He directed the team to speak with the concerned directorates in the University for details and plans as touching other projects the bank can be part of within the institution’s network.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye, also invited the bank to be part of some of the University’s major events, such as the International Conference on African Development Issues (ICADI), the upcoming Convocation ceremony, etc.
In his remarks at the meeting, the Registrar, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo, posited, “We are glad to have a relationship with you. Covenant University is an organization committed to raising leaders in all fields of human endeavours. The University is also poised to be one of the ten best Universities in the world, by the year 2022. Every engagement of ours is very critical, as we like relationship with organizations who are going the same direction with us.”
While stating the purpose of their visit, Mr. Olufemi enthused, “Covenant University has done wonderfully well. Seeing what is on ground here today, as we came in, I have no doubt in my mind that your vision of 10-20-22 is something you would even achieve before the date. The reason we are here is to know how our relationship with the University is faring and how we can improve on our partnership. We want to know your future plans as it touches areas where you think we can key into and be part of what is happening here. We are not settling in on a temporary basis, we want to be part of your success.”
Also present at the meeting were the Director, Financial Services, Pastor Deji Okubanjo; the Director, Centre for Systems and Information Services, Pastor Abolade Afolabi; Manager, Strategic Business Unit, Dr. (Mrs.) Abiola Babajide and members of the Directorate of Media and Corporate Affairs.
