Ideas Rule the World at Dreamers’ Night
The much awaited Dreamers’ Dinner was held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Covenant University’s Cafeteria 2. The ‘Dreamers’ is the Vice-Chancellor’s project and comprises individuals or groups of faculty, staff and students of Covenant University with ideas, products or services capable of promoting the University and contributing to the achievement of Vision 10:2022.
At the event, various projects and products were presented to the audience. Among them were CU Vocational School, Pozzolanic Binder Project, Cooperative Society Model Development, Electric Engine Car Project, Drone Project, C-Mobi, Food Delivery and Compliant Response System.
The elated Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, remarked that the projects were seeds sown which would be nurtured to fruition. “As an institution, we are interested in the entire project,” he added, even as he commended all the Dreamers for their efforts.
The immediate past Registrar, Dr Olumuyiwa Oludayo, noted that with the projects, the Dreamers would be the next generation of entrepreneurs in the subsequent five years. He promised that the Alumni Association was ready to work with some of the Dreamers immediately.
The Director, Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID), Professor Samuel Wara, explained that his directorate was already working with the Bank of Industry to assist in developing the products.
Also in his remarks, the immediate past Director of CUCRID, Professor Louis Egwari, said he was impressed by the project and expressed his hope that the University was prepared to turn the dreams to reality.
Another past Director of Research in the University, Professor James Omoleye, wants the University to set up a group to monitor the projects and their development into tangible products. He also advised that projects with similar ideas should be brought together to avoid duplication of efforts.
Others in attendance were the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo, Director Centre for Learning Resources, Dr. Chris Nkiko, Director, Physical Planning and Development, Pastor Azubuike Nwoke, Chaplain, Pastor Charles Ehekwaba, Director, Centre for Systems and Information Services (CSIS), Mr Yinka Adeboye, Deans and Head of Units as well as President, Covenant University Chapter of Young African Entrepreneurs, Mr Ano Igwe.
