Investment 1 Seeks to Collaborate with Covenant University
A five-man team from Investment 1 Financial Services Limited visited the Management of Covenant University in a bid to enter into a collaboration that would advance both academic and career proficiency of her students.
The visit, which took place on Wednesday July 3, 2013, at the Vice Chancellor’s conference room, centered on reaching out to the next generation of leaders in Covenant University and help improve their investment knowledge.
According to the MD/CEO of the company, Mr. Nicholas Nyamali, “We want to partner with you to give back to the society by starting an investment education programme with your students.”
“This partnership would cut across all areas of the University community from staff to students, Chaplaincy, Strategic Business Unit and the Alumni base,” he stated.
Mr. Nyamali said his company was coming with the motive to spur the students to begin to thrive in investment by getting them acquainted with Investment Simulator Software that would aid them to understand trading processes of the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Fixed Income Bond Market without using real money.
The MD/CEO of Investment 1 noted that the simulator would help them understand investment and how to manage portfolios and when mastery is attained, they can then t commit real money into it.
Furthermore, Mr. Nyamali stated his company’s desire to start an Investment Club in the University. He also stated that, part of their aspiration was to see to successful recruitment of graduates of Covenant University in related fields of study into Investment 1 Financial Services Limited.
He commended the Management of the University for the great work they are doing in the nation’s educational landscape. “We are very happy to have two of your products working with us. We have noticed their significant contribution to the success of our organization thus far. We acknowledge the graduates you have produced, and the way they have impacted us as a business cannot be measured,” he concluded.
The Director, Financial Services, Covenant University, Pastor Deji Okubanjo requested that the guests should extend their investment initiatives beyond the student body to all other groups of the University.
Similarly, the Registrar, Dr. Ubong Ntia, said that the background of the organization leaves no one in doubt that they would deliver only the very best for the faculty, staff and students of Covenant University, when the proposal eventually gets running. Moreover, he saluted the part of the scheme that would see to the recruitment of graduates of the University.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor AAA. Atayero suggested a catchphrase for the Company to the Management of the organization: ‘Use the Brain, Play the Game, Make the Gains’ in advertising the new software package.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Korede Ayo commended the quality of the proposal, which factors in every unit of the University. According to him, what was expected at this point was formalizing the relationship and to get it running.
While stating the importance of the Investment Club, Professor Ayo said that the idea was just a reinforcement of the belief of the Chancellor; Dr. David Oyedepo that one must not necessarily end up a job seeker after graduation. He promised that the Management would be more than willing to give officials Investment 1 the opportunity to address the staff and students at different fora.
The Two Eagles (graduates) of Covenant University on the Investment 1 team were Ifedolapo Peter Ajakaiye (Accounting – Class of 2006) and Iheza Onos Iyobosa (Accounting – Class of 2008).
