Marketing Educators Conference
A Marketing Educators Conference, jointly organized by Covenant University’s Department of Business Studies and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has commenced.
The conference which has “Creating Value for National Transformation” as it theme started on Monday, February 14 at the Auditorium of the University’s Guest House.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan, while receiving the Chairman of the Conference and former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Sir (Engineer) G. O. Omene; the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Chief Lugard Aimiuwu; and the representative of the Honourable Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Lagos State, Mr. Hakeem Adeniji when they paid a courtesy visit to her office, appreciated them for the rich value base they were bringing into the conference which would create further values for national development.
She thanked Sir (Engr.) Omene who used the occasion to make an endowment in the sum N500, 000 to the University for the purpose of instituting awards for best students in the Department of International Business.
While declaring the conference open, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ogbulogo who represented the Vice-Chancellor affirmed that the conference was in line with University’s theme for the year “Capacity Building for Continued Relevance”, noting that many organizations went under not because they don’t have money, but lack of capacity building and succession plan.
In his keynote address, Sir (Engineer) Omene stressed that marketing cut across all aspect of life including family, politics, academic and religion among others and therefore germane to national transformation.
The conference, which continues till Wednesday 16, has the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Chief Lugard Aimiuwu, Director of Commerce in the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hakeem Adeniji who represented the honourable Commissioner and other principal officers of the University in attendance.
