Nigerian Institute of Management Solicits CU Partnership
Officials from the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) were in Covenant University (CU) today, September 29, 2015, to seek partnership and collaboration with the University in the area of management training and professional certification.
The leader of the team, Mr. Bello Sunday, explained that the team has been mandated by the institute’s Registrar to interact with CU for the purpose of building common interests. “The purpose of our visit today, is to introduce the NIM Student’s Scheme to Covenant University. It has been designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice; developing the students not just to be employees, but to be employers of labour. We train our candidates primarily in the practice of management,” he said.
He further said that anyone can be a member of the NIM no matter their professional foundation and those who have gone through their exams have a competitive advantage in the job market.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, stated that Covenant University is building a platform to integrate both town and gown. “Our intention is to produce industry ready graduates, which seems to be in line with the goals of the NIM. We want to ascertain that our students are industry relevant. That was part of the reason the University championed the Entrepreneurship Department,” he stated.
The Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, earlier in his welcome remarks, appreciated the team for their initiative and expressed optimism that the meeting would yield positive results.
Also present at the meeting were the Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo; Sub Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Dr. Oluwole Iyiola; Head, Department of Business Management, Dr. Rowland Worlu; Dr. Akintunde Ajagbe and a member of the Directorate of Media & Corporate Affairs.
