The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, on Thursday, August 25, 2016, performed his first assignment as the Chairman of the University’s highest academic decision making body-the Senate. The Senate meeting, which was the first in the 2016/2017 Academic Session was also the 123rd in the series.

In his opening remarks, Professor Atayero appreciated God for all the successes recorded in the University, particularly under the last administration and noted that it was an assurance that the University would continue in God’s grace because His compassion fails not.

“God has used some people to bring the University to this level and that is why I will like to appreciate the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor C. K. Ayo, ably supported by the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that, it was a seamless transition from the past administration to the current because he was part of it for the first two years as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

While introducing the new Heads of Departments and welcoming all member of the Senate to the meeting in the new session, the Vie-Chancellor expressed the management’s expectations and high level commitment towards the ‘ReCITe’ goal of the University.

Professor Atayero also expressed the decision of the management to continue the Town and Gown Seminar series introduced by the last administration, in order to produce industry ready graduate. He charged the HODs to ensure that each department organise at least three per semester even as he enjoined the Deans of the Colleges to drive the directives.
