Professor Iyoha Celebrates His Birthday with University Management

Punctuality, firmness and a good sense of humour; these are just a few of the honourable qualities attributed to the Dean of the College of Business & Social Sciences, Professor Francis O. Iyoha, at his birthday celebration hosted in the Vice-Chancellor’s office on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. The University management gathered on this special day to bless him and give glory to God for adding a new year to his life.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, appreciated all in attendance for gracing the occasion and expressed his admiration for Professor Iyoha’s notable qualities; his sense of responsibility, punctuality, firmness, astute leadership style and good management of human and material resources. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the integrity in which he handles finances and his obvious love for God which he remarked has been expressed in his “good habits cultivated over time.” He described Professor Iyoha as a quiet and virtuous man; an elder in the community who is full of stories. He encouraged him that no one serves God and regrets it. He thanked him for his contributions and pronounced God’s blessing over his life and the lives of his family.

The Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, congratulated Professor Iyoha on his birthday and remarked that his love for God is seen in his relationship with colleagues. “Others will look at you and want to emulate you,” he remarked.

In his response, Professor Iyoha thanked God for His mercy and faithfulness. “If you want to understand faithfulness,” he told the gathering, “ask me, as I have experienced God’s faithfulness.” He expressed his gratitude to God for preserving his life in the midst of challenges and issued his sincere thanks to the Chancellor for the opportunity to work in such a peaceful and spiritually refreshing environment. He also gave appreciation to his colleagues for their love and continued support.

During the event, a number of Professor Iyoha’s colleagues offered accolades in honour of his birthday. “I have known the Professor since 2003 and he is consistent and predictable. He is committed to excellence and has an earnest desire to do things properly,” remarked Director, Centre for Learning Resources, Dr Christopher Nkiko. “It is a combination of his humility and firmness which qualifies him for leadership.” He also congratulated him on his birthday.

The Director of Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo, commented that Professor Iyoha is a man in which God’s favour clearly rests.” He highlighted that he has an excellent rapport with others and diligently follows through on given tasks.

Professor Iyaho was presented with a birthday gift on behalf of the University management, as a token of love and friendship.

Also in attendance at the event were Dean, College of Science & Technology, Professor Nicholas Omoregbe; Dean of College of Engineering, Professor John Ndueso; Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Zacchaeus Oni Omogbadegun and members of the Directorate of Media & Corporate Affairs.
