Researchers call for transparent public administration to sustain urban development
To ensure a sustainable urban growth and development in the country, there is the need for efficient and transparent public sector administration which gives room for broad-based participatory decision-making process.
This was the recommendation of researchers at the Department of Estate Management in Covenant University, contained in their work titled, “Towards Ensuring Sustainable Urban Growth and Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Strategies,” published in Society for Business and Management Dynamics.
They also recommended the need to ensure environmental education in the country, which they say would involve active participation of the community leaders, industrialists, academia and other stakeholders as well as interest groups since they are vital tools as advisers and presenters of planning information. The international community, the researchers say, would also be needed to ensure technology transfer to the country, strengthening of institutions and capacity building to demonstrate their commitment to ensuring sustainability of Nigerian environment.
