In a bid to develop the skills of the students participating in the Work Study Programme at Covenant University and maximize the experience and realities of work environment, a three day interactive programme on creative writing, career development, personal branding and public speaking was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.

The programme which commenced with a seminar on Creative writing was quite interactive with a practical session.

In her speech, the facilitator, Dr. Felicia Ohwovoriole, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages advised the students to write on their area of interest and polish their creative skills irrespective of their discipline.

She emphasized the need for commitment, consistency and focus in creative writing and enjoined them to be descriptive and narrative in their essays.

The programme ended with a presentation by six students, who read their short fictions to the participants.

Mr. Ikechukwu Stephen a 200 Level Industrial Physics student read a short fiction titled “Arrow” while Miss Unini Mosimabale a 200Level Industrial Relation student read a Short fiction titled “Deja Vu”.

The facilitator lauded the students’ performance in the presentation and encouraged them to explore publishing firms in order to exhibit their talents.

The programme continues on the 21st and ends on the 22nd of February 2014.
