Students Advised to Impact Society on Graduation
Covenant University graduating class of 2015 has been advised to make impact in their society after leaving the University.
This advice was given by the Vice-President (Education), Living Faith Church Worldwide (LFCWW), Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo at the Special Convocation Assembly on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 to commence activities marking the 10th Convocation Ceremony of the University.
She emphasized that the students have been intellectually and spiritually empowered, therefore, it is imperative that they add value to their society. She made reference to the words of the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo that, “Great leaders are not those with chains of degrees but those who change the world”.
Pastor (Mrs.) Oyedepo appreciated God for His faithfulness since inception of the University. She enjoined the students to locate divine plan for their lives, develop a personal relationship with God, be thankful in order to attract God’s blessings and avoid pride because it is a destroyer of destiny. “You must have the glimpse of where you are going” she said.
Also speaking at the Assembly, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, appreciated God for a successful completion of the session despite the outbreak of the Ebola disease in Nigeria which did not affect the University.
He said, “It is necessary to appreciate God for His faithfulness because the goals of Innovation, Impact and Internationalization have been achieved, in addition to the numerous awards won by the students, faculty and the University”. He congratulated the Admirable Set as the graduating students are called, and advised them to be mindful of their identity.
In his remarks, the Registrar, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo, acknowledged the faithfulness of God at the release of the 10th set of Eagles who are solution providers, change agents and who would make impact in their society.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Students’ Council, Mr. Tolu Omoluyi, stated that the graduating students have acquired many skills and have learnt many lessons from the Platform of Towards a Total Graduate (TTG). He said “Our eyes have been flooded with light adding that these would make them distinct as they continue their sojourn in life.
