Students enlightened on the need for Land Registration
In an effort to reduce the rate of Land duping in the country, Students of the Department of Estate Management have been enlightened on the need for Land registration, and were urged to take appropriate measures regarding land ownership.
This advice was given by the guest speaker, Esv. Adekunle Awolaja, at a Departmental Seminar held at the College of Science and Technology Conference Room. He spoke on the topic “Land Registration in Nigeria: Issues and Challenges”, and explained the process, of land registration benefits and challenges faced with non-registration.
In his words, “The issue of land ownership in Nigeria has been a challenge to the country in recent times. To curb this problem, it is mandatory to enlighten the younger generation on the procedures of securing land ownership.
Esv. Awolaja further stressed to students that proper land registration measures must be taken, as failure to follow such processes could result to unnecessary pressure from different bodies.
According to him, “Improper Land registration leads to being vulnerable to challenges from different bodies. Proper land registration is a must to avoid unnecessary pressure from such bodies, making individuals to evacuate their habitation prematurely”
The Head of Department, Estate Management, Dr Mayowa Ajibola stated in his closing remarks that the main aim of the seminar was to help students of the department to get ready for field work, stressing the need to know what the world entails.
Dr Ajibola said, “this seminar tends to open the minds of the students to learn what will help and add value”.
Both Staff and Students of the Department of Estate Management Department where fully represented at the seminar.
