Students of Applied Biology and Biotechnology went on a field trip to Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Lekki Reserves, Lagos on the 4th of October, 2013.

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is one of the foremost environmental nongovernmental organizations (NGO) in Nigeria today. It was established to achieve the following purposes:

  • Saving the country's flora and fauna from extinction
  • Protecting the environment from pollution and degradation and
  • Improving the quality of life of the custodians of our wildlife heritage.

Since its inception, NCF has been deeply involved in specific projects targeted at improving the quality of the Nigerian environment and its management.

The students were exposed to different biodiversity which includes flora and fauna such as different species of birds, monkeys, monitor lizards, Alligator, ferns, palm-grove trees etc. They were also lectured on the different national parks in Nigeria and how to conserve biodiversity for future utilization.

Our utmost appreciation goes to Covenant University Administration and the Executive Director of Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) for granting us permission to embark on this trip.
