Vice-Chancellor Charges Technologists on Product Development

Technologists at Covenant University have been charged to come up with products in order to achieve the goal (innovation, product development and nation building) for the 2015/2016 Academic Session, and ultimately achieve the Vision 10: 2022.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, gave the charge at a meeting with the Technologists on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the University’s Senate Chamber.

Professor Ayo enjoined them to come up with products through any of the Research Clusters in the University and feel free to approach the management to finance their research in case their ideas may not be in line with any of the research clusters available.

He noted that, though they may be having issues, he promised that the University would remain committed to providing equipment required to carry out their assignments. He also promised that they would benefit from constant training and industrial attachment where they would gain hands-on experience relevant to their various fields.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. Think deep about your profession. You are not here by accident; there are a number of challenges begging for solutions. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes of understanding to be able to see where you can make a mark,” he prayed.

Also addressing the Technologists, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye, requested them to assess the quality of their inputs and provide adequate support for the practical training of the students.

The Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, on his part, charged them to magnify their office and turn their assignments to tasks. This, he said, would bring out the creative force inherent in them.

The Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo, encouraged them not to be daunted by any challenge. He enjoined them to develop ownership mentality in order to maximise the capacity of the equipment at their disposal.

Various questions asked by the Technologists were answered by members of the management team in attendance. A committee of Technologists was then constituted to implement all the ideas and suggestions that would be brought on board.
