In order to touch base and feel the pulse of the Staff, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Korede Ayo on Monday, February 4, 2013 embarked on a Strategic Emphasis Visit to various Directorates and Units of the University

His first point of call was the Covenant University Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies (CUCEDS). He was received by the Ag.Director of the centre, Dr A. O. Adegbuyi and his Staff.

The Vice-Chancellor also visited the Centre for Learning Resources (University Library) and the Directorate of Endowment and Resource Development Services (DERDS) respectively.

Each of the Directors used the opportunity to present their score cards as it relates to their areas of strength, gaps, quality of service delivery, goals for the session and strategies for internally generated revenue.They also enumerated various challenges demanding attention.The Vice-Chancellor and other members of Management adequately responded to the various questions posed.

At CUCEDS, the challenge of utmost importance according to the Director was the issue of certification of its products by regulatory agencies such as National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON). This according to him has been affecting their market expansion programme.

Professor Ayo responded that the University spearheaded Entrepreneurial Development Studies in the country and has trained other Universities and Institutions so Covenant University mustcontinue in her leading role.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the leadership and staff of the University Library for their pro-activeness and the evident team spirit demonstrated in carrying out their assignment.

In his remarks to the staff of the DERDS, Professor Ayo demanded better qualityservices particularly at the Cafeterias and other students’ support services.He also advised the directorate to procure some vending Machines to serve snacks and drinks to both staff and students, which will add to the environment in the quest for a world-class status.

He appreciated the leadership of various directorates and units visited for a good work done so far.

On the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage was the Registrar, Dr. Ntia Ubong; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Taiwo Abioye; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic)Professor AAA. Atayero; Director, Financial Services, Deacon Deji Okubanjo; Director, Planning and Physical Development, Engineer Joseph Olamife; Director, Centre for Systems and Information Services, Engineer Bayo Ajala; Senior Assistant Registrar (VC’s Office); Mr. KaluOkwuagwu and representatives of the Corporate and Public Affairs.

The visits continue to other directorates and units of the University until Friday, February 8, 2013.
