World Varsities Trail Covenant in the Field of Compressive Strength; Concretes

 

Covenant University has emerged 1st in the list of the top 100 institutions in the research field of Compressive Strength; Concretes; Cements by scholarly output, according to the latest computations by Elsevier SciVal, the quick and easy access to the research performance of 8500 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide.

The computations, spanning the period between 2014 and 2017, saw Covenant, with 62 scholarly outputs, 801 views count, and 148 citation count berthing firmly at the apex of the top 10 list of institutions, which featured three other Nigerian universities. These are the University of Ilorin (5th), Federal University of Technology, Minna (7th), and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (9th).

The runner-up on the top 10 list of institutions was SASTRA University, followed by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and University Malaysia Pahang.

Dr. Gideon Bamigboye of the Department of Civil Engineering, who is the leading author in Compressive Strength; Concretes; Cements at Covenant University, was number one on the list of the top 500 authors worldwide, with 3 scholarly outputs.

Aside Dr. Bamigboye, whose research interests include innovative construction materials and environmental sustainability and concrete infrastructure among others, other Covenant faculty in the top 10 list of authors worldwide were Dr. Anthony Ede and Engr. Oluwarotimi Olofinnade, also of the Civil Engineering Department.
