Youth Acquire Skills at Covenant University Entrepreneurial Centre

Twenty-five young people are currently developing their skills in a 2-week Skill Acquisition Summer Training for Youths, organised by the Covenant University Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies (CEDS).

The youths, ranging in age from 9 to 16, have been learning various vocations at the programme which commenced on August 17, 2015.

The Director of the Centre, Dr Omotayo Adegbuyi noted that the programme has witnessed an increase in the number of participants since its inception 3 years ago. He added that plans were being made to attract more participants, particularly external participants.

Throughout the programme, participants have been engaged in vocations such as tie and dye, soap and cosmetics making, pastry and bread making, hair dressing, bag-making and leather work, bead and wire crafting, photography, event decoration, shoe making, fish farming, and food processing.

The participants were also taught other specialized courses including entrepreneurship and marketing, sex education, etiquette and morality, as well as entrepreneurial finance and management.

Participants will be presented with Certificate of Participation at the end of the programme.
