Collaboration/Linkages

She worked and is still working assiduously towards establishing a good Relationship/Collaboration between Covenant University and the Campus France of the French Embassy in Nigeria. She was the first to mention Covenant University to the organizers of the French Education Fair in 2012, an annual event she regularly attends. Subsequently, in 2015, she facilitated the first visit of some French Officials, namely: Monsieur Sebastien CARTIER, Programme Officer for the promotion of Higher Education, International Students Services, International Mobility and Campus France, French Embassy, Abuja & Monsieur Rafiu OMOLOYE, Programme Officer, Campus France, French Embassy, Lagos to Covenant University.
At the 2017 French Education Fair that took place at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, 25th February, Dr. Eugenia Abiodun-Eniayekan, in the company of Dr. Kikelomo Evbuoma, a faculty from the Psychology Department of Covenant University, discussed extensively with 2 of the key-organizers, namely: Monsieur Arnaud DORNON, Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, Embassy of France in Nigeria & Director of the Institut Français du Nigeria, resident in Abuja, and Monsieur Michel HARDY, Foreign Governments Coordinator for Africa, Marketing and Mobility Department, resident in Paris, France. The focus of the discussions was on possible collaborations and signing of MOU with the French Government via the platform of the Campus France.
Two days after the French Education Fair, on Monday, the 27th of February, to be precise, Dr. Abiodun-Eniayekan and Dr. Evbuoma went to the Covenant University Vice Chancellor and submitted to him a Report on the outcome of their attendance of the French Education Fair and their submissions in that regard, with a view to making the Covenant University a bilingual University.

The University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) 12th Annual Conference and AGM, held at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Lagos State, with the theme “PROMOTING FRENCH IN NIGERIA”, Date: November 1st – 5th, 2009. She presented a paper titled: “Réflexions sur la critique littéraire”.

2. The University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) 13th Annual Conference, held at the University of Port-Harcourt, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, with the theme “FRENCH AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA”, Date: 31st October – 4th November, 2010.


3. The University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) 16th Annual Conference and AGM, held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with the theme “FRENCH IN THE WIDER WORLD”, Date: 9th – 14th March, 2014. She presented a paper titled: “Mondialiser la langue française: néo-colonialisme ou développement?” (Globalising the French Language: Neo-Colonialism or Development?).
4. An International Conference at Redeemers’ University, Mowe, Lagos State, titled “THE HUMANITIES, CONFLICT AND DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA”, Date: 27th – 28th May, 2014. She presented a paper titled: “Conflict Resolution” which was sent to the University of Benin Journal of Humanities.
5. The University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) 17th Annual Conference and AGM, held at the Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry, Lagos State, with the theme “NIGERIA AND THE ECOWAS”, Date: 9th – 13th November, 2014. She presented a paper titled: “Les guerres du Libéria et de la Sierra Leone: une interrogation du rôle de la CEDEAO” (The Liberian and Sierra Leonian Wars: Interrogating the Role of the ECOWAS).

6. The First Joint International Conference of the Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University and African Studies Institute, University of Georgia at Athens, Georgia, U. S. A. on the theme “THE HUMANITIES AND THE INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM (IKS) IN AFRICA AND AFRICA’S DIASPORAS, held at the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos. Date: 20th – 23rd July, 2015. She presented a paper titled: “Socio-Pragmatic Values of Nigerians as Exemplified in Wale Okediran’s Tenants of the House: Implications for Political Caste System”.

Summary of Profile

Dr. E. N. ABIODUN-ENIAYEKAN is a graduate of French up to Ph.D level. She had both her B.A. and M.A. (French) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1986 and 1990 respectively. She got her Ph.D also in French from the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State in 2013. Her area of specialization is African Literature in French. She presently teaches French at the Covenant University. Since 2009, he has been the Coordinator of GST 122: Communication in French, one of the NUC-approved University wide courses at the University. She is also the Coordinator of the Certificate Course in French (CCF) that the Covenant University Faculty and Staff are taking as well as an active member of the Lifelong Learning Committee in Covenant University as the Departmental Representative of the Department of Languages and General Studies. Eugenia Abiodun-Eniayekan is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the College of Leadership Development Studies in the University. She also belongs to some of the University Research Clusters such as: The African Development Issues: New Leadership Paradigms For Africa, which is presently working on «Situation Analysis of Leadership in Africa» and Media, Terrorism and National Security, that is working on «Reporting Africa: Discursive Strategies in the News at CNN International Desk – A Type of Media Terrorism?».
She has been working assiduously towards a collaboration between the Covenant University and Universities in France since 2012 when she began to attend the annual French Education Fair, organized by the French Embassy in Lagos and Abuja.
With a view to seeking for closer ties with the French Government/Embassy and possible collaboration, a way of making Covenant University to have a global impact, she first mentioned the University to the organizers of the Fair on the 24th of March 2012 when she first attended the French Education Fair at Louis Pasteur, Victoria Island, Lagos. Ever since then, she has been interacting closely with them and mounting pressure on the Covenant University International Office and Linkages to see to the possibility of the collaboration being established. On the 13th of May, 2014, she facilitated the visit of some of the French Officials to Covenant University, namely, Monsieur Sebastien CARTIER (a Frenchman), the Programme Officer for the Promotion of French Higher Education, resident in Abuja, and Monsieur Rafiu OMOLOYE, the Programme Officer for the Promotion of Higher Education, International Mobility and Campus France, French Embassy in Nigeria, Alliance française, Lagos. She is widely travelled and has mixed with many people of different tribes, races and colours as a result of her proficiency in French.
