Dr Raphael Mordi
BSc, PhD, PGCE
My research interests are on:
Food irradiation - to identify markers that could be used in identifying irradiated foods.
Zeolite Catalysis - use of zeolites as catalysts in organic reactions.
Carotenoids and Carotene degradation
Polymer degradation as a source of fine chemicals
Alternative energy sources, for example, palm kernel.
Summary of Profile
I did my PhD at UMIST, Manchester with Dr. Roy Fields and John Dwyer working on "Conversion of Components of Heavy Feedstocks over Shape Selective Zeolites".
I did postdoctoral research on the degradation and autoxidation of carotenoids at the University of St Andrews, St Andrews to identify the metabolites and to examine if they are effective in fighting tumor growth.
Before coming to Covenant University I was a lecturer at various colleges as well as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University, UK.
