Dr. Stephen Ukenna

Stephen Ikechukwu Ukenna, holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD in marketing, which he obtained from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Nigeria. Prior to joining the academia, he has been active in business consulting, where he held strategic positions. His PhD dissertation is in sustainable consumption, and has since snowballed into deeper research and publications in the area of sustainable consumption and sustainable entrepreneurship with emphasis on the sub-Saharan African (SSA) region. He has taught sustainability marketing to MSc students in one of his professional engagements. His teaching and research interests include Sustainability Marketing, Services Marketing (with emphasis on Bank Marketing, Hotels and Tourism Marketing), International Business/Marketing, and Quantitative Methods for Business/Operations Research. Dr. Ukenna’s writing includes a book and over 15 articles in top-rated local and international journals such as the Thunderbird International Business Review (TIBR) and the Emerald’s African Journal of Economics and Management Studies (AJEMS) and the International Journal of Consumer Studies. He has attended a number academic conferences around the world. He is a member and reviewer for the International Academy of African Business and Development (IAABD), USA and a reviewer for the Emerad’s International Journal for Bank Marketing. Dr. Ukenna is a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), and the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (ISMN), where he has taught and held positions both at the local chapters and national level. He is also a member of the Nigerian Academy of Management. Following his strong drive to provide a voice for the sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in mainstream sustainability research and debate, Dr. Ukenna has participated in the Green Talent Competition in Germany sequel his ongoing and growing groundswell research in sustainable consumption with strong SSA underpinning.
