Covenant University has emerged 1st in the top 10 list of the world’s leading universities in the field of Aerosols; Atmospheric Aerosols; Aerosols, while four of Covenant’s faculty were among the first 5 of the top 100 authors worldwide in the same field.

In the recent computations made by Elsevier SciVal, spanning the period between 2012 and 2017, Covenant emerged the best university in the world in the aforementioned topic with 59 publications and 100 citations.

Another Nigerian institution, the Federal University of Technology, Minna, came a distant 2nd on the top 10 list with 13 publications and 30 citations, while the 3 publications and 3 citations of the Military University of Technology, Warsaw, earned her the 3rd position.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia had 3 publications, and the University of lbadan recorded 3 publications and 15 citations to place 4th and 5th respectively. Other institutions on the top 10 list were National Applied Research Laboratories Taiwan, National Chung Hsing University, Korea Basic Science Institute, Research Institute for Chemical Defense of China, and Yonsei University of Korea.

Dr. Moses Emetere of the Department of Physics, Covenant University, was the world’s No. 1 author in the field of Aerosols; Atmospheric Aerosols; Aerosols. The faculty, with research interest in Multidisciplinary Modelling, had 61 publications, 108 citations and 7 h-index.

Next was Professor Marvel Akinyemi, also of Covenant’s Physics department. Credited with 23 publications, 33 citations and 4 h-index, her research interests include Modeling Varying Climatic Conditions and Land Surface Recovery in Africa; Virtual Assessment of Air Pollution Dispersion from Anthropogenic Sudden Explosion; and Temperature Variation and Solar Photovoltaic Energy Efficiency over the Six Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria among others.

Occupying the 4th and 5th positions were Engr. Samuel Sanni of the Chemical Engineering Department and Professor Temidayo Omotosho of the Physics department, both of Covenant University.

Other Covenant faculty among the top 100 authors worldwide were Mr. Samuel Akinlusi (11th), Mr. Sayo Akinwumi (13th), and Allen M.C, all of the Physics department, including Onyecvhekwa L. and Dr. Patience Tunji-Olayeni (23rd) of the Building Technology department.
