CHAPLAINCY
There is a need for a viable and efficient Chaplaincy department in all our universities, especially the church owned universities likes ours, the Covenant University, that will be actively involved in student campus life.
The mission of the Chaplaincy is therefore to create a Christian-world atmosphere to prevent the emergence and spread of those negative and indifference tendencies; and to provide opportunities for effective nourishment and development of the spirit and the mind of both the student and the faculty staff to reflect the mindset of Christ, culminating in acceptable godly character, and in fact, a total man after the order of the status of Christ.
The Chapel
The educational system of our higher institutions has been so unilateral in its approach to preparing the youths towards handling the challenges of the future in the sense that it has focused only on the development of academic intelligence and skill over the years.
Man is a triune being, consisting of a spirit, a soul and a body. Any institution that wants to prepare man to achieve laudable goals on earth and retain his crown in eternity must take into account the entire man. I believe this is the wisdom behind the TMC (Total Man Concept) program run in Covenant University.
MISSION
The Chaplaincy exists to create an environment that encourages spiritual growth and development as a priority and to inculcate in the members of the community a deep sense of belonging to a godly community.
Covenant University is a product of a heavenly vision and not a product of any board decision or group of people. It is said that we do not pursue a spiritual mandate with the energy of the flesh. The Chaplaincy is the vessel God uses to supply the spiritual energy required in the pursuit.
The university uses the Chaplaincy to collaborate with parents to raise a new foundation for these young people to become enviable citizens of this nation, future leaders that God will use to rescue this land from social chaos, political anarchy, and economic doom.
