Covenant Leads Again at CODET National Engineering Competition
Covenant has sustained her leadership in Engineering in Nigeria by winning big at the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) National Engineering Competition, which held in Abuja on August 7, 2018.
Of all the Engineering students’ projects in Nigeria that were presented for the Single Category of the competition, Covenant claimed the 1st and 2nd positions. The 1st prize, which went to Gabriel Tobi Eigbe, was for the project titled “Production of Tiles from Recycled Waste Pet Bottles and Sand” while the 2nd prize went to John Udoka Nsionu for the project “Production of Mosquito-Repellant Candles using Crude Oil Extract from Neem Seed”. Covenant did not stop there as another student, Dawn Ochenaya Idoko, emerged the 1st runner-up in the Best Graduating Student category.
Covenant has indeed established herself as a leader in Engineering in Nigeria as can be recalled that the University also came tops in the 2017 edition of the competition. In 2017, the University won the 1st prize in the Group Category with a project on “Mechatronics Application in Irrigation Farming”, and also emerged the 1st runner-up in the Single Category with a project on “Nano-Refrigerant for the Preservation of Vaccines”.
