Postgraduate School Enlightens Applicants on Covenant’s Vision
The School of Postgraduate Studies, Covenant University, briefed prospective applicants seeking admission into the school about the PG School Curriculum as well as the university’s approach to attaining her vision.
Speaking during the supplementary admission screening exercise conducted on Friday, September 1, 2017, the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Samuel Wara, introduced the applicants to the Vision and Core Values of the University, and the University’s undertakings geared towards the fulfillment of its vision of becoming one of the top 10 universities in the world by the year 2022.
“Here at Covenant, we are committed to raising a new generation of leaders through a qualitative and life-applicable training system that focuses on value and skill development,” said Professor Wara.
He explained that, “One of our approach for the attainment of Vision 10: 2022 is ReCITe, which means Research is our responsibility, Citation and Innovation leading to income, and Teaching is our goal. The strategy for ReCITe is expected to be accomplished through the instrumentality of 'Glocalisation', which means benchmarking with established (indisputable) world-class universities, while introducing innovations to address our local contextual needs”.
Professor Wara also stated that admitted students would be involved in the University’s research clusters as part of the institution’s policy on interdisciplinary research for effective utilization of research findings. Also, he told the applicantsthat the University has programmes and facilities that will aid there study while on campus.
About 156 applicants sat for the postgraduate school examination, which involved a computer-based test and oral interview.
