Professor Atayero Inducted Fellow of CIA
The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, has been inducted as an honourary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA).
In his remarks at the event, held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the CIA President/Chairman of Council, Dr. George U. K. Chima, explained that the CIA fellowship was highly priced and could only be given to qualified individuals, adding that the organisation had found Professor Atayero very deserving of it.
He described the Vice-Chancellor as an exceptional role model who had demonstrated great leadership and made invaluable contributions to the educational landscape not only in Covenant, but in Nigeria and the world at large.
Dr. Chima, stated that his organisation found Professor Atayero so honourable that it had decided not only to award him the membership/fellowship, but to make the trip to the University with select members of the institute to deliver it to him. This, he said, was contrary to the association’s usual practice of conducting the ceremony in a more elaborate ceremony convened by the CIA at its own location.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero, in his remarks, gave glory to God for the honour bestowed on him by the institute, stating that only God could have made it possible. He also thanked the visioner and Chancellor of the University, Dr. David O. Oyedepo, for the opportunity given him to serve at this time, thereby exposing him to new vistas of leadership and growth.
Alluding to his new status and to the importance of education in the journey of life, Professor Atayero stated that, “when you educate a mind, it doesn’t go back to where it was before”. He emphasised that going by how far-removed from the Nigerian situation he was when he first arrived Nigeria after a long sojourn in Russia, he would never have been able to survive in Nigeria if Covenant was not birthed almost immediately he returned.
Professor Atayero, thanked the President of the CIA and his team members for the honour bestowed on him. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the honour granted him was a challenge to do more. “I take it as a challenge to double the factors of the things we are currently doing for more productivity,” he stated.
In his comments, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor AkanWilliams, appreciated the honour done to the Vice-Chancellor, stating that members of the University Management were not surprised that the honour came to Professor Atayero, rather, they would have been surprised if it didn’t.
He assured the Chairman of the institute that more of the officers and staff of the University would soon join the institute.
