Summary of Profile
Dr. Isaac O.S. Fayomi has established himself both as one of the 21st century proven academic and rated researcher in the area of Materials science, Mechanical Metallurgy, and Advanced Surface Engineering with nanocomposite multifunctional fabrication of alloys.
He has a combination of multifaceted experience and qualification in engineering disciplines such as mechanical, materials, environmental and chemical sciences. He obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degree in Metallurgical Engineering (Mechanical Metallurgy bias) from Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa. He had a postgraduate diploma in environmental and natural resource management.
His area of interests are: Mechanical Metallurgy, Materials Development and Corrosion Engineering- Alloy development and processing, mechanical and corrosion characteristic of aluminium based alloys, materials performance and structural integrity, thermomechanical and triboxidation processing, electrochemical study of thermally treated metals and alloys, microstructural morphology/evolution, biomaterials, thin films, dye-sensitized solar cells, electro-codeposition and laser technology/additive manufacturing. His corrosion and electrochemistry usage has involved material chemistry with emphasis on (electrochemistry, kinetics, adsorption, thermodynamics of corrosion - extensive researches on corrosion inhibitions in different media using various electrochemistry tool, weight loss (gravimetric), hydrogen evolution (gasometric), thermometric methods; synergistic and antagonistic studies. He is an expert in surface engineering and prevention such as laser surface treatment, thin film application and additive inoculation with interface phenomena. Dr. Ojo Sunday Fayomi today has contributed immensely to the advancement of materials globally as a visiting scholar to several Universities both locally and internationally. He has his hands on deck on the interpretation of the use of advanced modern age equipment for chemistry and physics of materials like TEM, XRD, TGA/DSC, SEM/EDX, AFM, FTIR, Wear (Tribology-3 body Abrasive-reciprocating sliding) Raman spectrometer and Micro-hardness tester.
As a Research Director with Surface Engineering Research Centre, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa and Principal Researcher at Technology innovation Agency Ga-Rankuwa. He has more than a hundred (100) publications and several conference proceedings in accredited, Thompson Reuter’s and local peer-reviewed journals with strong impact factors, wide readership and citations.
With over 40 R&D carried out within the shortest period, Dr. Fayomi is known to be reviewer of over 50 International Scientific Journals and Conferences in related fields; a member of the examining body for the National Research Foundation. He is an outstanding researcher and lecturer which has attracted several awards internationally. The latest is the Scientific Achievement by South African Association for Advancement in Science Medal Award (Medal for Original Research). He had patents to his credit with South Africa Ministry of Education and Corporate affairs. He is a multi-talented, goal driven perfectionist with a passion for hard work. He thrives on solving impossible equations and proffering practical answers to difficult situations of life. He is a life coach and mentor. Above all, he is God fearing and president of Ignite International Motivational Destiny Discovery Summit.
