Summary of Profile
Abiodun M Gesinde is a Professor of Counselling Psychology in the Department of Psychology, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Ibadan with Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology. He commenced his academic sojourn with the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State as an assistant lecturer and rose to the position of principal lecturer. He has worked as adjunct lecturer for the University of Ado-Ekiti, University of Ilorin and Landmark University. He was the Head of Department of Psychology from 2010-2012 the Sub-Dean, College of Leadership and Development Studies (2015/16). He has written extensively on counselling people with special needs, psychological abuse,career counselling and behavioural disorders (academic dishonesty and truant behaviour). He presented his inaugural lecture titled "Psychological Virus Undermining Children and Adolescents’ Development: The Antiviral in Counselling Psychology" at the 13th Inaugural Lecture of Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He is a member of many professional bodies such as American Psychological Association (APA), Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), American Counselling Association, The International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect among others and member of editorial board/reviewer for local and international journals.
