Summary of Profile

Professor Joseph A.O. OLUGBUYIRO is a trained Natural Products Scientist and a Chartered Chemist (MICCON). He has his PhD degree at University of Ibadan in Nigeria. In addition to an excellent academic record, he is a model teacher, researcher and leader. He is a member of many professional bodies which include- Fellow of American Society of Microbiology, Fellow of Chemical Society of Nigeria, a member of Royal Society of Chemistry, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Pharmacognosy etc. He is a specialist in Natural Product Science (Pharmacognosy) that focuses on phytochemistry, drug discovery & development: extraction, purification, isolation, and characterization of biologically active natural products. He engages in chemical formulations vary in standardization to project development. He lends to Industrial Organic Chemistry as a consultant Formulation Chemist and Cosmetologist. He brings dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to the laboratory. As a Natural product Scientist, he engages in sound research, working hand-in-hand with other scientific researchers both in public and private institutes in discovering plant drugs for combating life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis, diabetes, cancer, tropical infections etc. And most recently, he is actively involved in the search of therapeutic agents to combat the novel coronavirus: COVID-19. Olugbuyiro has many publications in reputable international journals.
