Covenant Sets New Record, Crosses 800 Publications for the Year 2018 and 3,000 Since Inception!
Celebration has become a daily affair in Covenant as the University adds to her numerous records by crossing 800 publications indexed in the Scopus database this year, even with two months to the end of the year.
The Elsevier’s SciVal report as at October 23, 2018, revealed that not only did Covenant achieve 807 publications this year, the University also crossed 3,000 publications since inception. This amazing development means that Covenant’s publication profile so far in 2018 has exceeded that of the entire 2017 by 42.33% when the University had only 567 publications indexed in Scopus. Covenant’s 807 publications in 2018 also show that of all her publications since inception, 2018 accounts for 26.81%! Considering that publication is one of the metrics used by the Times Higher Education for ranking world universities, of which Covenant is already in the 601-800 range, the University is set for a gigantic leap forward by the grace of God. It is worthy of note that Covenant’s publication profile has continued to rise over the years as 72.67% of the total publication figure of the University since inception was generated between 2016 and 2018.
The SciVal report further showed that the top 3 disciplines in Covenant that generated the highest number of the publications were Engineering, Computer Science and Social Sciences with 780, 624 and 397 publications respectively. Covenant’s top 3 authors, who are also global leaders in their fields, are Professors Sanjay Misra and Cleophas Loto, and Dr. Ojo Fayomi.
