An attempt at driving both local and global impacts of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has necessitated the launch of Solution 17, a model developed by Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) in partnership with Covenant University for driving SDGs to proffer solutions to the world's most pressing problems through the application of the global body’s 17 SDGs programmes.
The CEO and Project Director, Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI), Mrs. Foluke Michael, said there was need for Covenant to engage at the highest level in line with global trends pertaining to sustainable initiatives, with the scope being to project Covenant University to the world towards the attainment of Vision 10:2022.
Mrs. Michael said the whole idea of the launch of Solution 17 in Covenant was about taking local action to solve global challenges, with a conscious effort to driving sustainability of the planet, using tools of SGDs through promoting inclusivity with the ultimate goal of leaving no one behind.
“Let’s take action that will compel our unique success stories about saving the planet to be told, and come up with ideas that will propel Africa into a major global player,” she added.
In his remark at the launch, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero appreciated Mrs. Foluke Michael for her enthusiasm in driving SDGs related matters globally. He pledged the University’s total support towards a robust execution of the Solution 17 initiative.
With the launch of the Solution 17 initiative, Covenant was repositioned to partner with elite global institutions, with a view to evolving partnerships and collaborative research towards smart solutions to things bedeviling our environment and developmental efforts.
The Solution 17 project titled ‘Climate Crisis: A Race Covenant Must win for the World’ is tied primarily to taking action on climate related issues, with a conscious effort at tackling them head on.
