VC, DVC of Covenant University Conferred with CIA Fellowship

The Vice-Chancellor’s conference room was filled with an atmosphere of celebration on Monday, June 25, 2025, as the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Timothy Anake, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu, were honored with the prestigious Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Administrators (CIA) of Nigeria.

Speaking at the investiture ceremony, the President of the Institute, Adm. Ugochukwu Azubuko, FCIA, highlighted the CIA’s longstanding legacy as one of Nigeria’s earliest institutes to be established by decree, now fully integrated into Nigerian law.

Adm. Azubuko commended Covenant University's management for its consistent commitment to excellence over the years. He noted that the University's fruitful partnership with the CIA has continued to flourish, driven by its high standards and the outstanding quality of its students. Bestowing the fellowship on the Vice-Chancellor and his deputy, he stated, is a recognition of their exemplary leadership and administrative excellence.

He further praised the University for its many accolades and achievements, describing Covenant as a beacon of quality education in Nigeria. "The institution has become a trailblazer, not only in Nigeria and Africa but globally—currently ranked 74th in the world. This feat is a testament to the leadership steering the institution behind the scenes," he added.

Adm. Azubuko urged the honorees to see the award as a call to greater service, inspiring further impactful leadership and administrative distinction in the future. He also expressed gratitude to Covenant University for consistently producing top-tier graduates who continue to shine across sectors.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Timothy Anake, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Institute for the honor. He thanked the CIA leadership for recognizing the leadership contributions of both himself and Professor Amodu.

Describing the CIA as a ‘friend in progress’ and a strategic ally, Professor Anake reaffirmed Covenant University’s mission of raising a new generation of leaders committed to driving positive change across Africa. He acknowledged the collective effort of the University’s faculty and staff in shaping students who embody integrity, competence, and leadership.

He also appreciated the role of professional bodies like the CIA and ICAN in molding students to be industry-ready and globally competitive. Professor Anake pledged continued excellence in service and administration, promising to uphold the values that align with both the CIA and the vision of Covenant University.

On behalf of the University’s management, staff, and students, he once again thanked the CIA Board for the recognition.

The ceremony concluded with the formal induction of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, who took the Institute’s oath before being presented with their framed fellowship certificates. The event also included the induction of selected Covenant University staff and students, into the Institute.
