IBAKM Team Pays Courtesy Visit to Covenant University Vice-Chancellor

A five-member delegation from the Institute of Business and Knowledge Management (IBAKM) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Covenant University, Ota. The visit was to formally invite the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, and other members of the University community to their upcoming Induction and Award Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the University’s Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (CRID) building.

Welcoming the delegation, the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban, expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that Covenant University is committed to changing Africa’s narrative by raising a new generation of visionary leaders who are already making significant global impact across various sectors.

He highlighted the University’s growing international recognition, stating that global ranking bodies such as Times Higher Education have consistently ranked Covenant University as the best in Nigeria and West Africa, and recently as the 4th best university in Africa in specific ranking metrics.

Mr. Igban further remarked that Covenant University aligns with organizations that share its vision of excellence and impact, stating that IBAKM’s visit is a welcome development that will enhance the University’s visibility and expand opportunities for collaboration.

Leading the IBAKM delegation, Professor Monday Anyairo, expressed the institute’s deep regard for Covenant University and explained that the visit aimed to seek the Vice-Chancellor’s support, formally invite him to the upcoming induction and awards ceremony, and request his goodwill message at the event.

He emphasized that IBAKM distinguishes itself as an institute that upholds high standards, granting certification only to individuals who have undergone rigorous training and examination. This, he said, ensures the integrity and credibility of the institute’s awards.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, welcomed the team warmly and affirmed the University's readiness to collaborate with organizations committed to societal development. He noted that IBAKM’s values and objectives align with those of Covenant University, especially in their shared commitment to leadership development.

Professor Anake stated, “It is always a delight for Covenant University to engage with institutions that aim to transform lives, which is at the heart of our mission to raise a new generation of leaders. This partnership reflects the Chancellor’s vision, as both institutions are driven by strong leadership ideals. Truly, value attracts value.”

He gladly accepted the invitation to attend the programme and appreciated the delegation for coming in person. He also confirmed the University’s endorsement of the event and assured the team that invitations would be extended to members of the faculty and staff as requested.

Professor Anake further acknowledged the institute’s alignment with the leadership philosophy espoused by the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents, Dr. David O. Oyedepo. He noted that addressing Africa’s leadership deficit is crucial, and commended IBAKM for taking tangible steps toward filling this gap through its initiatives.

Members of the IBAKM delegation included Dr. (Pastor) John Izebere, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC); Pastor Bitrus Joel, Vice-Chairman, LOC; Deacon Joseph A., Member, LOC; and Deacon Giwa Felix, also a member of the LOC.

Present at the meeting from Covenant University were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu; Director of Financial Services, Pastor Samuel Joel Audu; Principal Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David; Acting Head, Media and Corporate Affairs, Ms. Chichi Ononiwu; and Senior Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Gbemisola Benson.
